When you don’t have a past and can’t trust almost everyone, who are you really.Īgent G has to navigate a rich world of secret societies, politics, intrigue and plenty of people trying to kill him. ![]() The parallel journey of external dramatic action, tension and intrigue, with internal dialogue of questioning his feelings, makes this a fun and interesting ride. Yet, he struggles to find meaning, and learn more about himself and his past throughout the story. I remember reading the first of the Murderbot series, and people seemed to love the Murderbot, the highly competent security bot, with almost crippling internal anxiety and constant questioning of its place in the world.Īgent G has had his memories removed and through conditioning and enhancements learned to be an cold and efficient assassin for hire. However, what makes it fascinating is not that he is one of the best killers, it’s that throughout the story he is introspective about himself. ![]() Throughout the action, tension and drama of the story, Agent G calmly assesses the situation like the cold blooded assassin that he has been conditioned to be. The performance of the perspective of Agent G was done really well. ![]() I listened to the Audio book version, and I am glad I did. ![]()
